The installation of iTop is similar to many PHP based applications.

1. download the iTop package from Sourceforge,
2. Check the installation prerequisites,
3. Adjust the PHP and MySQL settings appropriately,
4. Launch the installation wizard,
5. Then complete the installation by configuring the background tasks.

Then and before your users can start using iTop in production:

1. Read about the user accounts and profiles and determine which type of authentication you will be using,
2. Read the implementation guide and setup the service catalog, customer contracts, etc…
3. Complete the installation by configuring the eMail notifications and the proper email transport,
4. Adjust your configuration to fine tune the performance,
5. Be prepared to backup your data.
